UMass's Josh Jennings ('03) Had a breakout junior season. Josh was named 1st Team All Conference after registering 90 tackles, 3 interceptions,and 7 tackles for loss. He was named CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week 3 times. The former CT  Defensive Player of the Year (2003)  highlighted his season with a team best 11 tackles against Texas Tech.

Former Hurricanes, Rutgers, and CCSU RB Justice Hairston ('01) just completed his first season as the running backs coach at NBHS, coaching Kaiway Boima to his first 1,000 yard season.
 

New Britain legend, and Syracuse star Tebucky Jones also came back to his alma mater. The nine year NFL veteran coached the defensive backs and produced 2 award winning DB's in Selwyn Cartie and Chris Linares.

Speaking of coaches, several NBHS graduates are currently coaching the Golden Hurricanes led by Head Coach Paul Morrell. Others are former University of Rhode Island stud Mike Peterson (DE's and Special Teams), St. Anselm grad Mike Garcarz (QB's), and AIC's Tywan Gibson (DL). Coaching the freshman this year were former NBHS gridders Jason and Steven Mussman, John Evans, and Chad Heath.

Mike McLeod finished his Yale career as one of the most decorated RB's in Yale history. The NBHS star holds the majority of Yale's rushing records including most yards rushing (4,514) and rushing touchdowns (55). Mike is now training for the upcoming 2009 NFL Draft. 

New Britain speedster Andrew Jackson was named to the AFCA All-American 1st Team. Jackson, a 4 year letter winner and 3 year captain at Merrimack College tallied 58 tackles, 5 interceptions (1 returned for a 74 yard TD) and 10 pass breakups. On 1/23/09 Andrew was named to the Football Gazette's All-American Team. He became the first player in school history to score a touchdown on offense, defense and special teams in a career and holds the school record with 17 interceptions. Jackson was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference first team, second team all-region by Daktronics, and to the 2008 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England team.
He finishes his career as a four-time Northeast-10 first-team All-Conference selection and a four-time All-New England selection. Jackson, who was a D2Football.com All-American honorable mention in 2005, tallied eight career touchdowns on special teams. 
 

Southern Connecticut's  junior QB Chris Roberts (NBHS '04) had a breakout season of his own. Chris took over the reigns for the Owls in week 3 and led the Owls to an 8-3 record and a berth in the Division II Playoffs. Roberts threw for 2,125 yards and 20 touchdowns while completing 61.7% of his passes. He was named the 2008 recipient of the Harry Jacunski Award by the New Haven Gridiron Club. This award is given to the best offensive college football player in the area. Chris was named to the All-Northeast-10 2nd team and was named Player of the Week Sept.29th. Not just a football player, Chris was also named Comcast Scholar Athlete of the Month for November 2008.

Southern Connecticut beast, Jahliem Cuttino ( NBHS '04) , a First-Team All-Northeast-10 Conference selection, ranked fourth on the team with 57 tackles (9.0 for loss) and was second on the club with 6.5 sacks. The 6-foot-4 defensive lineman has also recorded six quarterback hurries. Jahlim was also named to two post season all star games. The Cactus Bowl, played annually in Kingsville, Texas.The teams are comprised entirely of the 'best of the best' NCAA Division II college seniors. In addition, Cuttino was among 68 student-athletes who took part in the East Coast Bowl on Saturday in Petersburg, Va. on Nov. 29. The game annually features the best Division I-FCS, II, III and NAIA players in the nation.


Former Hurricane DB Terrance Lee ('04) just finished his junior season and first at UNLV. Terrance started all 12 games and finished the season with 64 tackles, 3 pass breakups, 4 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery for the Runnin' Rebels.

New Britain strongman Corey Thomas ('04) just completed his senior season at Northeastern University. The 3 year starter had 33 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 1 forced fumble in 2008.
He totalled 100 tackles and 7 sacks for his 44 game career.

Dean JUCO defensive back Tony Torres ('06) was named 1st team All-Conference. He led the Bulldogs with 4 Interceptions. He also had 26 tackles and 5 pass break ups to anchor a nationally ranked defense that earned a berth to a JUCO bowl game. 

2006 graduate, Bryan Ferguson, sat out the 2008 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Bryan transferred to Div. 1-AA Delaware State where he will be competing for the starting RB job. 

Former NBHS bigman Ryan Esmail (2006) is in his junior year at Husson University. The 6'4 315lb tackle started all 10 games in helping the Eagles to a 7-3 record.

Central Connecticut starting MLB Jeff Marino finished first on the team with 83 tackles in his sophomore season. He was also credited with 2.5 sacks, 3 interceptions and 5 pass breakups. 
 
Senior offensive lineman Mike Fiore (NBHS '03) finished his collegiate career at the United States Coast Guard Academy. Mike was a two year starter at tackle and guard. 

CCSU's leading WR Nick Cologiavanni had a fine junior season. He snared 23 balls for 361 yards and 5 touchdowns in a predominantly running offense.

Isaiah Boddie played in all 11 games for CCSU totalling 3 special teams tackles. He is a leading candidate to take over the starting OLB spot in his upcoming redshirt sophomore season.

Another former Hurricane playing across town at Central is Justin Paradis. The former All-Conference WR/TE is currently the long snapper for the Blue Devils. He also recorded two tackles in 2008.

Former New Britain Hurricane wide out Titus Mack (2007) is tearing up the Junior College ranks in California. He is the top receiver at Pasadena  City College (the same JUCO that produced New Britainite David Reed (University of Utah) During the 2008 campaign Titus had 47 catches for 766 yards and 9 TD's including an 83 yard bomb for the Lancers.
 

2007 All-State safety Josh Hudson just finished his freshman season at Victor Valley College in Victorville, California. 

'07 All-CCC Running Back BJ Aponte just finished his freshman year at Bryant College. BJ appeared in 4 games for the Bulldogs 

James Delgado (NBHS '06) is playing cornerback at Hudson Valley Community College in New York. The 5'11", 174lb sophomore had 6 tackles and 3 pass breakups in 2008.
